There's something in us that wants to make it happen.
When we sense a call from God, it's easy to think we need to push harder.
Knock louder...
Promote ourselves...
Make doors open...
But that isn't the way of the Kingdom.
Verse of the Week
"Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you."
— 1 Peter. 5:6-7
Notice the order – humble yourselves, then He exalts.
Humility here is choosing to do things His way.
It's releasing the pressure of how will this happen?
It's casting the care of what do I need to do to make this work onto Him.
Sometimes we quote 'cast your cares upon Him' as comfort for stress – and it is that – but in this context, it's also about giving up the striving.
You don't have to chase invitations.
You don't have to elbow your way into rooms.
There's no need to schmooze anyone...
...Your part is obedience.
His part is promotion.
