A couple of weeks ago, I had the privilege of serving on the worship team at Greater Faith UK, with Brother Keith Moore.
As I stood at my keyboard during a full day of rehearsals, I found myself reflecting on how far God had brought me. Years ago, I simply said 'yes' to leading worship in my local church. At the time, I had no idea where that one decision would eventually lead.
Standing there, I was reminded that God doesn't ask us to know the whole journey. He simply asks us to faithfully steward what He's already placed in our hands.
Verse of the Week
‘As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.’
—1 Pet. 4:10
Every one of us has received a gift from God.
Peter doesn't just tell us we've been given a gift – he tells us to minister it and to be good stewards of it.
That immediately made me think of Jesus' parable of the talents. The servants weren't commended because they had been given something. They were commended because they developed what had been entrusted to them.
Nurturing a gift takes time. It requires practice, faithfulness and a willingness to keep growing, even when no one else is watching. For me, that has meant years of practising the piano, continuing to learn and saying yes to opportunities to serve, long before I ever stood at my keyboard at Greater Faith.
It challenged me to ask myself: Am I intentionally nurturing the gifts God has given me?
Perhaps that's a question for all of us.

As we faithfully steward what He's entrusted to us, we can trust Him with the opportunities that follow.
