For years, I rather underestimated the value of being a good administrator.
Give me something to organise or a plan to put together and Iâm in my element. But I used to look at other gifts that seemed more creative, visible or dynamic and wonder whether administration really mattered quite as much.
Perhaps youâve done something similar with one of your own gifts.
You see someone elseâs gift and think, Iâd love to be able to do that. What they have can somehow seem more significant than what God has given you.
Verse of the Week
'Woe to him who strives with his Maker!âŚShall the clay say to him who forms it, âWhat are you making?â'
âIsa. 45:9
Those are strong words. But thereâs something wonderfully reassuring behind them: God knows exactly what He is making.
He formed you deliberately. The gifts He placed within you arenât random â theyâre connected to His purpose for your life.
And itâs not only the individual gifts that matter. Itâs the combination.
Nobody else has your exact combination of gifts, personality, experiences, strengths and perspective. God knew the assignment He had for you when He formed you, and He knew what you would need for it.
When weâre wishing we were more like someone else, we can become so focused on what God put in their hands that we overlook what He put in ours.
Youâll never find fulfilment trying to become somebody God never created you to be.
So this week, ask the Lord:
âWhat have You put in me that I havenât fully valued â and how do You want to use it?â
Something youâve considered ordinary may be an important part of the extraordinary plan your Father had in mind all along.
