The Fragrance of Christ in You
Have you ever asked someone what perfume she was wearing, tried it yourself and thought, ‘That smells completely different on me’?
The first spray gives you an impression of the perfume. Then the scent changes as it settles on your skin.
Imagine you’re out shopping with two friends. You spot a perfume you all like and each spray a little on your wrist. By the time you sit down for coffee, you compare again. It smells more floral on one friend and warmer on the other. You’re all wearing the same fragrance, yet it comes through differently on each of you.
That’s the picture I have in mind when I read how Paul describes us.

Verse of the Week
‘For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.’
2 Corinthians 2:15 (NKJV)
We wear Christ. The fragrance is His, and people can encounter Him through each of us in a different way.
You might look at another woman doing something close to what you feel called to do and think, ‘She’s already doing it. What would I bring?’
Think of two women who both teach the Bible. One opens a passage and helps you see what you’ve missed for years. The other tells you how she obeyed that same Scripture when it cost her something, and you go home ready to act on it. Both are helping you hear and respond to Jesus.
There’s room for both women. There’s room for you, too.
God can make Christ known through your voice, your story and the way you serve. Another woman’s faithfulness in a similar assignment can encourage you to be faithful in yours.
What have you put off doing because someone else is already doing something similar?
Until next week,
Have a blessed day and keep shining!
