How God Guides Your Steps in Times of Change
The last couple of weeks have brought quite a lot of change for me.
A family member has come to stay with us, and I've also wound down a business. When life shifts like that, it can leave you feeling a little unsettled.
The routines change. Things feel unfamiliar. You find yourself wondering how everything is going to work out.
Change has a way of making us feel slightly wobbly.
But this week God reminded me of something deeply reassuring through this verse:
Verse of the Week
"The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand."
— Psalm 37:23-24 NLT

What a beautiful promise.
The Lord directs your steps.
The NIV puts it this way – "The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in Him."
That really spoke to me. Because when life is changing, you can feel a little unsure of your footing, as though you're walking on slightly uneven ground.
But it is God who makes your steps secure.
He is the One steadying you when things feel uncertain. The One guiding you forward even when you can't quite see the whole path ahead.
And I love this part of the verse:
Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.
Even if you take a misstep – even if things don't unfold exactly as you expected – you are never down and out. He is holding you.
Supporting you.
Walking with you.
Perhaps you're in a season of change too.
Maybe you've started a new job.
Maybe your family situation has shifted.
Or perhaps you're stepping into something new and unfamiliar and you're wondering whether you're ready for it.
Whatever the situation, this promise still stands.
God is guiding your steps.
He is making them firm.
And He is holding you by the hand.
So instead of worrying about how everything will turn out, take time to pause and listen for His voice. Let Him guide the next step.
The verse also says that He delights in every detail of our lives.
That means, we don't have to navigate these moments alone. God loves to be involved in the big decisions and the small everyday details.
I remember when my daughter was at school, and she would come home at the end of the day. I wanted to hear everything – who she spoke to, what happened in class, the funny moments, the difficult moments. Every little detail mattered to me because she mattered to me.
Our Heavenly Father is like that with us.
Your life matters to Him in every detail.
You don't need the whole path mapped out.
Just take the next step with Him – the One who is guiding you and holding your hand.
Until next week,
Have a blessed day and keep shining! ✨
